Say, that's a nice bike.
Jake sits astride Amanda's new ride. With construction in full swing on Serra's new middle school buildings and bypass road, Amanda chose to get a more compact mode of transportation. This is her new Honda Helix. You can see her most mornings on her commute to and from work with her bright yellow scooter and matching helmet splitting lanes on Antonio Parkway. What a sweet ride! Wonder Where Joe Ended Up?
Joe is now at Wonderware in Foothill Ranch. After five months commuting to Pasadena by car, Metrolink, Gold Line, and a company shuttle (total one way trip 2.5 hours), he is now about 12 miles from home. Wonderware is a 20 year old company owned by Invensys, a U.K. company and is the leader in industrial control and automation software. We're Getting The Band Back Together
What do you get when you get a bunch of middle-aged and near geriatric
band geeks in one room? Who knows; that wasn't a punch line but a
reality. On Friday night, August 17th from 6:00 - 11:00 PM at the
Grand Long Beach Event Center the answer will be revealed. That's
the time and place for Ken Haar's 1965-1986 Gahr High School Gladiator
band reunion. Check out the handsome second clarinetist (he's the guy
below the gap between the 3rd and 4th flag from the right.

Summer Looks Like Fun For The Newest Junior
Lifeguards' Assistant Instructor
Although not a paying gig, Jake will this year be an assistant instructor in the Junior Guards which means he gets his tan almost for free. Check him out at Salt Creek in Dana Point this summer.
The California Junior Lifeguard Programs are 4-week long day camps providing instruction in first-aid, CPR, ocean safety, rescue techniques, surfing, and body boarding. Instruction, supervision and activities are managed by the California Junior Lifeguard Programs Inc. The program is open to teens from 8 to 17.

Nothing Says Christmas Like An Oven Mitt On Your Head
No. Nobody is looking for these people but you should all be going
to see them. Recently we attended "Sister's Christmas Catechism"
presented at the Laguna Playhouse. It s part of the "Late Night
Catechism" series and is not to be missed. It's playing at other venues
in the Los Angeles area also. There are five Nuns; no waiting.
Jake is the one in green with either an oven mitt or an appliance cozy
on his head. I won't give away the plot but we all, interactively,
try and solve who stole the Magi's gold. For more information see
the FunnyNun website.
Where Are Kurt Russell and Gene Hackman When You Really Really Need Them?
Our summer vacation trip this year was truly an exciting one.
This summer we decided to finally fulfill a promise that we had been
making to Jake to visit buildings in Washington D.C. and New York City.
Since he was eight he has wanted to go see the Statue of Liberty, Empire
State Building and (at the time) the house where Bill Clinton lives.
Every year, with best intentions, we begin planning a trip to our
nation's capital with a stop in the Big Apple but are usually distracted
by a trip to Australia, a Hawaiian cruise, or some other decadent, but
non-educational trip. This year we managed to plan both in one
trip. We planned a trip to D.C. then on to NYC and then we boarded
the newly launched Crown Princess for a 9 day Caribbean cruise.
All was well until the second to the last day when we got a bit more
than we bargained for. We are fine and the trip was comped by the
cruise line but check out the
complete story here.
